In collaboration with Elkus Manfredi Architects, MYKD has designed a new 10-acre campus for pediatric research and clinical outpatient care. Located on the site of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the project incorporates an adaptive reuse of the original buildings and integrates a series of roof terraces and at-grade plazas and landscapes for community engagement and collaboration. The historic brownfield site employs human-centered design that focuses on a research that demonstrates children’s improved health outcomes from engaging with natural environments.
