Green Roof at 888 Boylston/Prudential Center

This rooftop garden sits atop the third floor of Boston’s Prudential Center, serving as an amenity for an office tenant at 888 Boylston Street. The green roof serves as an ecological focal point for the surrounding buildings, bringing colorful plantings to this highly urban environment. The planting strategy was developed based on a shade study from the surrounding high rise structures. Diverse, hydrotech extensive plants were selected to maximize water retention and provide three-season color. The garden serves as an important stormwater management tool, helping the 888 Boylston office tower achieve LEED Platinum certification.
