Project Location: Yongln, Korea
The master plan of this project uses the contextual and historical agricultural landscape as inspiration for the planning and design of the site. The training facility is bounded by a reservoir used for agricultural irrigation on the lower side and surrounded on the other three sides by fruit orchards and wheat or rice fields. The project uses the elements of orchard spaced fruit trees, retaining walls with terraced earth planes and a water systems as a way of structuring the design. The main axis of the project is defined by a water troth that recalls farming irrigation systems. Orchard plantings and hedge walls that come from an agricultural language are used in the separate outdoor rooms.
