University of Buffalo: Davis Hall

Project Location: Amherst, NY

Client: New York State Construction Fund

Architect: Perkins+Will

Situated within a historic Marcel Breuer designed quadrangle for the engineering campus, MYKD created an educational landscape for the engineering school, while developing a new ecological approach to campus design. MYKD developed this new paradigm for a campus quad with the faculty, facilities groups and the SUNY construction fund advisors. The landscape is a layering of wind screens, native plant beds, water collection areas and courtyards. This curriculum derived landscape design supports the engineering focused research within this ecologically diverse quadrangle that was conceived of as an “outdoor classroom.” The project is a LEED Silver certified building and landscape.
