Time Lines Project
Project Location: Austin, TX
Client: City of Austin
Architect: Page Sutherland Page
The Time Lines Project at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport offers travelers a sense of arrival to a locale with vibrant colors and dynamic transformations, while highlighting the fluid nature of time in global travel through the use of holographic imagery. The imagery is developed from the UTC defined time zones in increments of 5 minutes over a 24 hour period, creating a delicate web of lines that represent global time. These translucent polycarbonate panels feature three views of digital lenticulars that transform, highlighting global time over a 24 hour period. In this world view, local time is highlighted by the UTC (coordinated universal time) designations and defined by solar and lunar transformations in the sky during the day.
