Boston Children’s Hospital Wishingstone Garden

Project Location: Boston, MA

Client: Boston Children's Hospital

As a world-class pediatric research and clinical institution, Boston Children’s Hospital needed to expand their clinical infrastructure to meet increased acute patient care and research needs.  Our team designed a collection of eight gardens; each deploys uniquely designed landscapes that are readily accessible and tailored to meet specific user group requirements.  Strategically located throughout the new vertical hospital, the design concept embraces the ground to the sky and a diversity of gardens serve patient, family and caregiver needs. The Wishingstone Garden is a quarter-acre, street-level, outdoor garden that welcomes families and patients into the new entry of the hospital.  A series of curving stone walls and benches reveal patterns of geological layers, allowing visitors to feel a connection to the earth. The garden is dedicated to Anne and Olivia Prouty, daughters of Olive Prouty.
