In 2024, in collaboration with @lgbtqseniorhousing, @pennrosecompany, and @dimellashaffer, we celebrated the grand opening of The Pryde—New England’s first LGBTQ+ affirming affordable housing development! We’re excited to see residents settling into their new homes and bringing life to their new courtyard, surrounded by pollinators and songbirds. From the walking track and dance deck, to the salvaged memorial stones and pride plinths – it was such a delight working with the team to celebrate and support this community and unique history of this site.

The design balances ecological function with resident experience. Native inkberries replace aging boxwoods along the perimeter, while nostalgic garden plants like peonies and hydrangeas are interwoven with native grasses, asters, and coneflowers. This thoughtful combination supports pollinators and birds while providing familiar, engaging plantings for seniors. The integration of familiar garden elements with robust native plant communities makes environmental benefits visible and engaging, fostering deeper connections between residents and their local ecosystem.

We’re honored and proud to have contributed to such a impactful project. Congratulations to all involved!
