Among Wallpaper’s diverse selection of international designs, the Boston University Booth Theatre was highlighted for its unique structure and multi-functionality. The outdoor plaza, designed by Mikyoung Kim Design, was described as a “public ‘room’ and extension of the campus community.”

Completed in 2018,  the Booth Theatre accomplished its goal of relocating the theater arts back on campus. This modern performance complex offers both indoor and outdoor opportunities for the performing arts, and can also be used as a seasonal outdoor event space.  The stepped landscape celebrates the grade change and the building’s transparent façade, providing much-needed gathering spaces along Commonwealth Avenue for students. To draw in the surrounding community of students, faculty, and passersby, it features “bold, sculptural signage and terraced steps that double as street-side seating.” Read more here.
