Bal Harbour Masterplan

Project Location: Bal Harbour, FL

Client: Village of Bal Harbour

A subtropical paradise, Bal Harbour Village sits at the northern tip of Miami Beach. Within its pristine waterfront, this Vision Plan stands to improve the public realm by reinforcing a unique pedestrian loop, develop a strategy for coastal resiliency and enhance the natural terra and benthic habitats. Developed with community insights and leveraging environmental resources, the masterplan re-envisions Bal Harbour Village as a resilient waterfront destination allowing for visitors to immerse themselves in this waterfront experience.

With sensitivity to the site’s unique ecology, the masterplan encompasses a series of new public spaces along the promenade, allowing visitors and residents to engage the diverse marine life that defines the character of this Village.  The vision proposes a series of outdoor rooms brings visitors along the northern edge of the Village and offer opportunities to participate in a robust civil life while accessing and exploring the rich aquatic life that the site presents.  As part of the first phase, the north amenities include garden nooks along the harborwalk, resiliency and safety improvements to the jetty pathway, new artificial reefs and native planted beach dune gardens.  Creating a new iconic landmark for the Village of Bal Harbour, the jetty promontory with its new light beacon provides a unique opportunity of a 360-degree view of the horizon and an incredible immersive ocean experience.
