Tanja Waterfront Masterplan

Project Location: Tangiers, Morocco

Conceived of as the gateway to North Africa, this 80 acre mixed-use development masterplan is a visionary concept that transforms the waterfront of Tangiers into a vibrant live, work and play destination.  Inspired by local textures, colors and the rich Moroccan traditions, the landscape masterplan is a modern interpretation of this city’s vital history.  As one of the most significant waterfront developments in the region, this new port in Tangiers includes 3.5 million square feet of residential, hotel, retail, and cultural development on this former shipping port.

Guided by major view corridors along this waterfront site, the project highlights views to Gibraltar and to the historic Medina neighborhood.  A rich tapestry of programming and events create vibrant, large-scale parks and more intimate gardens and plazas that are planned in adjacency to two hotels (the St. Regis Hotel and W Hotel), a retail corridor, a convention center, a historic retail district, and mixed-use housing.
