New England’s first LGBTQ senior housing development kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony last Friday. Attending the event was Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Representative Ayanna Pressley, DHCD, Pennrose, DiMella Shaffer, Nitsch & RW Sullivan, and other representatives from the City and State.

The vacant Barton Rogers School (located at Hyde Park in Boston) will be converted into 74 mixed-income rental units for people 62+. Known as the Pryde, the Boston housing Project will offer affordable senior housing to LGBTQ seniors.

Mikyoung Kim Design is proud to take part in the perimeter landscape, which includes a series of accessible paths, porches, residential entries, and an accessible drop off. The heart of the project is the courtyard with a walking track, garden beds, and wood deck/pergola for resident events and enjoyment.
